Playtime

Afternoon play time…when work gets hectic, I’m going to keep this picture nearby to remind me of my favorite girl and how much fun we have. Time for a nap.
A favorite activity…sucking fists!
Elissa went on her first delivery with Daddy this week. We needed an outing. He warned us he was taking us to the middle of no where. Funny thing is…I thought we were already living there. We did find nearly the edge of the earth and there in the middle of no where, we have a customer building a beautiful home. (The picture is taken from the driveway of the home.) The more I live in the remote, rural prairie, the more I appreciate the people, the lifestyle and its simplicity. Now if we can just get a few of you to join us out here! I decided today rather than drive 80 miles to get to a Wal-Mart or 90 miles to a Target to buy diapers, I will order them by the case from our local grocery store. I have two cases arriving on the next truck on Tuesday. I still miss coffee shops. However, Nathan and Hunter are both “baristas” and one or the other brings me an amazing cup of coffee each morning.

Hunter playing “chubby cheeks” with his baby sister.

Kisses for the big brother

Kisses lead to drool!

Today is Friday, my last weekday of maternity leave and we have enjoyed every minute of it! Most importantly though today’s is Auntie Kirsti’s birthday. Not just ANY birthday…it is her 21st birthday. No big celebrations for her. Rather she is en route to West Virginia with a group from her college to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Can you imagine what could be accomplished if we ALL would celebrate our 21st birthday (or any birthday) this way?

Happy Birthday Kirsti!

She is so sweet! It seems like you have really enjoyed your maternity leave…I am so sad for you to have to go back to work, but I am sure that part of you misses it too! I have 3 days of work left before I am off!!! CRAZY…chat soon.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
