Knoephla Soup?

I am diving deeper into cooking in the Germans from Russia heritage and culture that I am immersed in on the prairie. With the brisk fall air, I decided to cook my first pot of knoephla soup. In my true cooking fashion, I did not use a recipe…and I “cheated” a bit on making the soup. I am sure the…

Mommy Daughter Prairie Walk & Toss

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, prairie life, rural life 2 Comments

The days are getting shorter on the North Dakota prairie but the fall like weather remains beautiful. Cooler evenings forewarn us of the weather that is just around the corner. Soon we’ll be bundling up and not running in the hayfield. Knowing that, we have been taking as many evening walks as we can.  Last night Miss E and I…

Circus Sunday In The Back Pew

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Motivated Moms Tagged With: being a mom, motherhood, prairie life 1 Comment

I love Sundays in our little rural church. It is where generations of families sit in the same pew every Sunday, where adults learn just as much or more from the children’s sermon about always searching for the lost sheep than the kids do, where we sang Happy Birthday to the local man turning 80 years old today, where our 2…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
