11 Ways To Find Rest Amid Chaos

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: being a mom, mommy guilt, motherhood, motivated moms, working mom 8 Comments

I needed down time this past weekend. It was planned, thanks to my husband. If you are living amid chaos as I am most days, I can tell you stopping to rest is the best medicine.

What did I do to unwind to find rest amid my chaos?

1. I turned off my phone.

2. I left my computer at home.

3. I watched sunrises and sunsets. Even this morning as my home office work day was starting I hung out a second story window without a screen to grab these photos. I don’t recommend this photography technique.

4. I had face to face conversations with family and friends.

5. I went to bed early and got up late for the first time in four plus years it seemed, thanks to my parents having the kids for two nights at the farm while my husband and I hung out, ate too much and laughed plenty.

6. I played at the park with no schedule or time limits with my kids and husband.

 7. I let the girls argue over pushing their baby in a swing and let them sort it themselves rather than trying to “control” the situation.  Some of my chaos is self-induced in my nature to want to “control”.

 8. I ate multiple cake pops that Auntie Lori made for us and sent us in the mail.

Miss A and I loved our cake pops. And we even saved a few more to enjoy throughout the week and to share.

9. I let Miss E, age 3 1/2, take my picture with out my hair being combed and no make up on…other than leftover eye liner.
10. I didn’t fold a single load of clothes. But I will this week.
11. I started off the week with a clean slate and a long to-do list that I know I can accomplish, one item at a time, one foot in front of another, realizing life amid chaos is just where I want it to be.

Glad you had a chance to rest, relax, and recharge. One NEEDS to take the time to that. Sounds like your Hubby is like mine. J is easily able to simplify things. He helps me see the solution that is at the tip of my nose; the answer I can’t grasp by myself.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
