Kicking Back To Drink German Coffee

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I just spent the last 45 minutes doing a long, detailed blog post.
And then it disappeared. It did not save like it normally would have. It is gone.

But let me tell you, I will rework it tomorrow and be back in touch to tell you that I am going to be drinking plenty of German coffee over the next two weeks.

What is German coffee?

It is what people on the prairie drink, so thin that you can see to the bottom of your cup when they serve it to you at the Home Plate Cafe. It is nothing like the “Norwegian” coffee I was raised on or  the “turbo diesel” (named by my husband of course) coffee I love to drink each morning.

You see I need turbo diesel coffee to get my through my crazy, hectic working, traveling mama days.
But the next couple weeks, I am kicking back and can get sit and enjoy watered down German coffee on the prairie.

Why the sudden change in my coffee drinking habit?
Drum roll….this mama is taking a vacation. No turbo diesel coffee needed. German coffee will do. No traveling. No Blackberry. No conference calls. Okay maybe one or two. No hundreds of emails to answer…at least not on vacation. German coffee will be all I need to get me through my days with my family.

Where is the get away? To a beach? To the mountains?

Actually, I am taking a vacation to stay home. We all are staying home to host a baseball team of 14-15 year old boys at a state tournament our little prairie town is hosting.

Can you imagine how many baseball uniforms I will be washing? Or how many dozens of eggs or gallons of milk I need to buy feed these boys breakfast each day? How many dozens of cookies and bars I need to make tomorrow for snacks?

German coffee may not hold me together after all.

More to come. One thing is for sure, I will be blogging about it and not letting my blog posts delete anymore.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
