The prairie snow is melting this week. It is indeed a heat wave. So warm that the kids could venture outside this afternoon. My sister is visiting for a few days. Today while I wrapped up some work with Anika in my lap at my desk, Hunter, Elizabeth and Auntie Kirsti walked through the snow to the park.
Auntie Kirsti’s timing was perfect this week for a visit. For the first time since Nathan left his corporate job two and a half years ago, he is gone for a couple days on a business trip. It is just the second time I have been “alone” on the prairie without him. The other time was only a fishing trip. Nathan’s work week used to include weekly travel. It was routine for us. But now it is odd for me to on the other end of being the parent at home and not traveling. And we really miss him. But Elizabeth said it best to me last night as I put her to bed in her fast talking 2 year old way “My mommy go to meeting, my daddy stay home. Now my daddy go in an airplane, up high to a meeting and my mommy stay home.” She has got it all figured out and does not seem to mind. However she will be ready for Daddy’s nightly routine again tomorrow night as tonight she said “No Mommy! My Daddy do it this way!” as I covered her with her blanket or when I began to sing to her she said “No you sing Daddy’s song. Just you sing Mommy’s songs.”
