Daddy’s horse

An exciting “new” toy emerged from the secret storage closets at Gpa Eldon and Gma Carol’s today. Elizabeth took her first ride on Daddy’s play horse. (Nathan remarked “I remember it being bigger!”)
Maybe this is the first step to Daddy letting us have a real horse in the cute little red barn just to the south of our house? Probably not anytime soon. Nathan seems very content to have Hunter’s horse Sheyenne live at the farm forever. Plus Sheyenne loves her master keeper, Gpa Fred and he loves her. But Gpa Fred has been known to haul things to our house. (hint hint…we’ll be ready!)
For the present, Elissa is sure to spend hours in the basement at Gma and Gpa’s house riding Daddy’s horse!
Getting settled for her first ride.

Hunter paraded into church with all the kids waving palm leaves today in honor of Palm Sunday and our family post church event was a feast made by Carol. And of course our growing boy was enthralled by his choice of coconut cream or lemon meringue pie for dessert.

Hunter spent time practicing piano today at Gma’s. Due to weather, his teacher has been unable to make it off her farm for the past few weeks and there have not been lessons. Hunter now has his lesson down pat and he might be anxious for lessons again this week but would never admit that to you. Rather he will tell you all about his Fantasy Baseball Draft that happened this afternoon and how his team is sure to beat Uncle Joe’s!

Hunter eating pie. I am happy to see he is carrying on the pie-eating legacy! He reminds me of Rob. P-I-E. Pie? Pie? 🙂
p.s. I LOVE Elissa’s huge bow! I bet Mom still has some of mine around the house, or at least the supplies to make new ones. Easter weekend craft project perhaps? I hope so!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
