Hunter pitched a complete game last night! They won 11-1. It was a great team effort. Twice the bases were loaded, including the last inning and Hunter had to have some strike outs to end the inning (and game). He pulled through, had big strike outs and was a smiling boy. He also had an exciting home run. Hunter is still learning to be a pitcher but thinks it is much more fun than playing first base which is what he does when he is not pitching. There are many younger boys on his team this year which is a good learning experience for Hunter. Patience and perseverance. They are really coming together as a team now and improving with each game.
We had double headers both Monday and Tuesday nights. On Monday night we had an eventful rain delay complete with hail! Hunter thought it would be a great idea to run from the cement block shelter building he was safely in and dash to my car during the hail storm. Hunter loves action. He also loves war history and having pretend battles with his buddies and their air soft guns. Running in the hail was action in which he could pretend he was in battle. He did deliver a yummy taco in a bag from the concession stand to me though so the run in the hail was worth it. Following the brief rain and hail storm, the game resumed and we had a beautiful full rainbow across the eastern sky. Being lathered and sprayed down with sun block, stomping in the dirt, playing at the park and eating popsicles at her brother’s baseball games has led little sister Elizabeth to love baths in the big tub. She comes home in the evenings saying “bubbles bubbles bubbles”. Daddy is still learning about bubbles and added a little too much the other night. However, Elizabeth loves when there are “moah moah bubbles” as she says!
So far our week has been baseball, baseball and then bubbles before bed. Not much time spent at home except me during the day in my home office working to wrap up things before my maternity leave departure. We had a weekly doctors appointment yesterday. The baby is happy as can be in there. I had lost 4 lbs. right after giving into a speedy lunch of Hardee’s gut bomb fast food. I told Nathan I was going to enjoy eating every bite of the unhealthy but so fantastic burger. And we laughed that I had lost weight! Not to worry I have gained plenty of weight plus extra in this pregnancy. The baby’s heart rate was in the 130’s. Hmm…I know you doctor friends say we cannot base our guess on whether it is a boy or a girl on heart rates BUT…Elizabeth was never below the upper 150’s and Hunter was never above low 140’s. This baby has been in the lower 150’s for the first eight months and now has been in the upper 120’s to low 140’s for our past three appointments. Nathan and I have thought it was definitely a baby girl this whole pregnancy. And Hunter and my mom have been saying “it’s a boy” the entire time. A surprise is soon to arrive! We are excited to meet our newest family member, a miracle and truly a blessing. Girl or boy really does not matter but the debate is fun. We will be thrilled and overjoyed with a safe arrival of a healthy baby!
Speaking of babies, I have a prayer request for all of you prayer warriors. Last fall I posted here and here about our lifelong friend Jill and her husband who were seeking to adopt a baby. It has been a long road for them this year and in years past. However, God always has a plan. Through a series of connections and miracles that all occurred within the past six weeks they were able to adopt a local baby. Baby G was born healthy this week and is home now with Jill, her husband and family. It is an amazing blessing. There is now a ten day waiting period to make the adoption final. Please pray for sweet Baby G and that this process all goes smoothly with out any hitches.
