Hunter’s former classmate and friend Zachary and Hunter have kept in touch for the past eighteen months by good ol‘ fashioned letter writing. They planned and parents agreed. Hunter is officially playing a few weekend basketball tournaments with Zachary and the “Lightning” team. It will be some driving for us but the smile on Hunter’s face last night was worth the long drive home. He snored. I drove, drinking only one coffee…snacking on the amaretto fudge I bought on the way out of town. And ate extra fruit today for the baby to make up for it.

Daddy and Elizabeth stayed home Saturday, enjoying a day to themselves along with their friend Minnie Mouse.

Thank you to the many of you who have sent me personal emails on the death of our friend Wade Westin. Please continue to keep their family in your prayers.
I cry for what Wade leaves behind on earth, his family. Parents left with out their only child. A wife with out her loving spouse, her best friend. Those sweet young children who will hear stories their entire life on how kind and genuine their father was, what a musical talent he was and how much he loved his family. Wade is in heaven, knowing that is such a reassurance. Between lying in bed for the past few nights thinking of Wade and then seeing the movie Fireproof this afternoon at our local movie theater with Nathan, we are more grateful for every day we have together in our marriage, more thankful for our children, family and recognize God has a plan for each of our lives, outside of our control.

“outside our control”…such a reminder to live life to the fullest, enjoying each moment of life, not taking things for granted, being more kind and patient…I remember seeing Wade live on the Medora stage…and I will continue to pray for his family during this time.

I can’t believe it… I remember Wade when I would go to the musicals. When my Grandpa worked there during the summers he loved talking about Wade and thought he was such a neat guy.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
