Stop For The Sunset

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, sunset Leave a Comment

Last night, after an evening church service on the prairie, I hopped out of the vehicle and stopped for the sunset. The days are getting shorter and summer is waning but the North Dakota sky still delivers. I kneeled alongside the highway, listening to our three kids and my husband visit back in the vehicle with crickets and a few birds sing to the sunset.

Everyone these days has a full schedule, a busy life, it seems. But stopping to pause to soak in a moment is a practice of mine and helps me to slow down in the busyness of life. When I stop for a sunset and I give thanks, right where I am and list off things top of mind that I am blessed by and grateful for in the moment.

There’s a stop I would love for you to make today. It’s over on Midwest Living’s blog, a new platform I am writing and sharing  on starting today. The first post is 7 Reasons I Love Living in North Dakota.

If you are visiting here for the first time from Midwest Living’s blog, welcome! You can subscribe by email in the right column to not miss any posts from our corner of the North Dakota prairie (no spam, I promise) and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest. I share prairie life that includes sunrises and sunsets, food, family, farming and advantages to small town living. Thanks for stopping by!

What’s your favorite place to stop to soak in a quiet moment?

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
