Back in 1983, which earlier today I thought was 20 years ago but it took me until a brisk morning walk to realize 1983 was 30 years ago, I was Strawberry Shortcake. My mom made me the costume and the picture shown is me visiting my dad’s advertising agency office. My mom made me a few beautiful costumes through the years or sometimes if it was too cold we wore snowsuits with some cotton balls sewn on the bottom and each a pair of rabbit ears.
Two years ago, I found a lady on Etsy to make some costumes so I could relive my Strawberry Shortcake glory with our girls. Miss A was newly potty trained and only wore hers for a short time…and then was Raggedy Ann.
While Strawberry Shortcake remains my favorite child Halloween costume, this year Miss E got the idea to wear my homemade witch costume, from indeed 30 years ago. Miss A has a new homemade “good witch” costume from my mom to complement it. However, they are spending the evening a part. Miss E is home with us. Miss A is combining soybeans at the farm and trick or treating with my parents and grandparents. And where is our teenager? He is competing in the 86th Annual National FFA Convention in Louisville in both Agri-Science Fair and representing North Dakota in the FFA Creed contest. The house is lonely with Miss A harvesting and our teenager, Hunter gone!
To liven up Halloween a bit for Miss E, I suggested to my husband last night that he dig out his Hulk Hogan costume. It’s my favorite adult costume we have done together, also two years ago. I was Hulk’s former wife, Linda. And Nathan was extremely into his character. Inside his late 30’s manly body, he is still a boy watching WWE in 1985.
But despite his passion for the Hulkster, Nathan passed on my idea of him working in the Hulk costume today. The tights would be too much for the guys he works with but I have to say the tie-dye works on him.
Tomorrow I am kicking off 30 straight days of blogging in November. Every day, I will have a new feature that I think is going to be REALLY fun to share with you. Plus I have other happenings that will have to be blogged about in between, like I am going to become an Auntie in November when my sister brings a new baby girl into the world..and her husband had something to do with that baby too.
And I never posted my October North Dakota giveaway which makes for TWO giveaways in November.
But for today, I think I am going to enjoy driving Miss E and her friend Miss C around our small town on the prairie for some treating, with the promise she will give any Kit-Kat’s to me.
What’s your favorite Halloween costume of all-time? Do you have an inner Strawberry Shortcake or Hulk Hogan?

Thank you for sharing Katie. I love the costumes. I wish I would have went through pictures now for costumes myself and my kids have worn over the years. I’m not dressing up this year unless you count that I am wearing camoflauge leggins and my farm chic sweatshirt to run errands in town in a little while. Some will think I’m in costume and I will just laugh because I love my new camo leggings I got a Wal-mart. They are super warm and comfy! Keep on sharing those favorites. Bonnie
