This week has been filled with Hunter winning several awards at the State Science Fair (which Miss E was proud to display and Miss A cried for pictures), our local FFA banquet which Hunter recited the FFA Creed (the girls loved attending with us), the arrival of snow geese back to the prairie and then a surprise spring snow. It’s mid-April! I am volunteering and helping coach the local track and field team in the throwing events. We are anxious for track meets but the winter seems to never end. My mom told me this is the coldest spring on record since 1979 and 1881. We are 30 degrees below AVERAGE temperatures.
The picture of my new sandals is a clue to how our family is going dealing with this winter that never ends. We are taking a few days for a technology time-out, extra family time, plenty of laughs, escaping to put our toes in the sand and for a chance to soak in sunshine.
I hope I complete the book I have been reading, Lean In. I plan to do an upcoming blog series on the books for women (and men) of all kinds to discuss what “Lean In” means to me.
I also hope that after today I can put away my wool coat until late November.
Want to follow along with our escape of winter? I will post a few pictures on Instagram and on Facebook.
Do you take technology time-outs for extra down time?
