Forging a new path with a favorite 2013 sunset

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie life, sunset 12 Comments

2013 started with pizazz on the prairie tonight with the first sunset of the year. It did not disappoint. It got me thinking about a fresh start and forging a new trail.

Side note: You can see I need to clean my lens for 2013. These are a little spotty but breathtaking, none the less. Let me know which is your favorite first sunset of 2013 in the comments and I will choose 3 commenters on January 9th to be sent larger prints of your favorite. Please make sure your email address is with your comment.

A new year is fresh, clean and full of new beginnings. It gives us all an opportunity to forge a new path.

We all are followers. But in certains areas of life, you have to break away from following to step into new ground. I always love a new year to forge that new ground.

Forging new ground does not mean we will all blaze a trail with fire and brimstone. It might start with baby steps, quietly and softly.

And while on your new trail, you won’t be alone. You have a support network to back you up that watches you forge and comes alongside you to encourage and at times direct when you don’t know what direction to turn on your new path.

Don’t let the sunset on this year with trying to forge that new trail. Whatever it may be, the opportunity awaits today.
What is a 2013 goal, resolution or dream you have?

(Leave comments below that include your email address for your chance to have one of the above sunset captures sent to you. I will randomly choose 3 commenters on January 9th.)

They are all beautiful!! All of your sunset and sunrise pictures have made me start taking more – now if only I would start sharing them, but like you said baby steps!

I haven’t made any goals yet – I never like to make resolutions but I have a few goals in mind! Plan our wedding (and fit into a pretty white dress) and finally buy a house in the country so we can get back home would be the top two goals for me!

I would love to hear your goals too!

Beautiful pictures. The first and the 4th ones are my favorites. I would love to be in the drawing to win one of them.
Looking forward to reading more about your life on the prairie this year!

I went back and forth between the 1st and 4th but I am going to have to go with the 1st. Thanks for all the sunrise/sunset pictures that you tweet.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
