Breaking News! The blog is back: THEPinkePost

50 hours of my blog being down and we are BACK with a new URL. So if you were linking to pinkepost.com you now have to link to thepinkepost.com. pinkepost.blogspot.com redirects now to thepinkepost.com. It’s a long story that I don’t have answers too and I am still working on it. But pinkepost.com supposedly expired…even though I have a receipt that says it is paid for through 9/13/13. Someone else bought it the day it expired 9/13/12. Google has never answered my help ticket. GoDaddy can’t help. We’ll see if LeaseDomains.com cooperates and gives me back pinkepost.com. It shut off on October 25th.

Either way, I am still blogging. I probably will NOT be blogging forever on a blogger platform though and am going to work to switch this blog over to a more reliable format. Until then, we are here. ThePinkePost.com

48 hours of having no blog, no space in the fantastic world wide web made me pause. Do I want to keep blogging? Should I stop? Is this my end? Nearly 5 years of blogging and I just abruptly stop?

I started to blog for my family.

Sarah Bernhardt Photography captured our family recently

Lately I have been blogging less and have spent more time in offline endeavors. But it has reminded me of why I love blogging. Sure my blog “stats” have dropped. But I have a consistent little group of you that read this blog and it means a lot to me.
Then having my blog just SHUT OFF sent me into a tail spin.

After a few hours of commuting, a couple days of work, a night out with my daughters and husband, I can now clearly think today about my future of blogging.

I blog for family. For friends. Long time friends. Friends I have met through blogging. I blog for farming. To share my love for food. And as I have said before my faith and freedom are still part of my blogging.

My answer is NO to abruptly stopping blogging. No domain name interruption is going to stop me from sharing about my loves of the prairie, connecting with the many of you that I do right here or preventing me from keeping my sanity. Let’s face it. Blogging keeps me sane some days. It’s my outlet. I love it. I live it. And I guess I don’t always own it.

But today, I am right where I want to be. The Pinke Post. (I own that one.)

Welcome Back Friends. Welcome Back. I missed you.

Hey Katie, I LOVE the barn shot. Beautiful. What a treasure. I have struggled along with you over whether to keep blogging. Again, we live parallel lives it seems. I go back and forth all the time, but in the end, I think I would miss it. And so, here I am, not as frequent as in the past when my life was different, but still seeing it as filling a vital need. I just think we both need to go easy on ourselves. It does’nt have to be either/or, perhaps. We can cut back when necessary to make our lives work, but not disappear, don’t you think?

Yay, Katie. Keep it up! It can be frustrating sometimes but everything worthwhile takes some effort and has ups & downs.

YAY! I for one missed ya!!!! I’m glad you won’t stop but also, look at it as a kind of journaling too for the future. Besides, I love some of the great perspective you bring to life in general!

Wow! What a strange thing to happen to your domain and then nobody to answer your questions! It must have been frustrating! But I am so glad you have been able to get back up and running and have decided to keep on blogging! I am from New Brunswick, Canada and love reading about your part of the world and learning about the farmers, etc. Plus from the first day I read your blog, I felt “at home” with you! And I LOVE, LOVE the red barn family photo!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
