Ridding myself of blogging guilt: Firsts

It’s been a week of firsts at our house. But I am REALLY behind on sharing them. For the first time in my blogging life I am attempting to rid myself of blogging guilt. Actually I have been trying to rid myself of blogging guilt all year but particularly this week. I have been living the firsts and not blogging the firsts. I’ve been blogging less but I still suffer from a slight blog guilt syndrome. Anyone else have this syndrome?
I only took photos on my phone. No fancy photos. But again, lifting myself of blog guilt and just sharing so at least my grandma can see some peeks of these family firsts. Hang with me.

Miss E started preschool. Our teenager turned 15 years old, started high school and had his first varsity football game. Big firsts. My husband said to me, “This seems to be going easier than I expected.” I had sunglasses on so he couldn’t see my mascara running as my tears flowed. Firsts are exciting but a first also marks the end of one chapter and into a new life chapter.

But new chapters bring hope, joy and positive change many times. The other big first that didn’t bring tears to me but instead filled me with joy was my brother aka Uncle Robbie made a leap of faith to teach and coach in our small town this year. Miss E found him in the hallway on her first day of preschool. Robbie’s journey is full of faith and we are blessed to be a part of it.

Miss A had her own first, going to daycare without Miss E. She wasn’t overly excited about her first but managed just fine.

More first moments…homemade cards from the little sisters for the now 15 year old big brother and…

Hunter may be the only 15 year old that asked for a pink cake for his birthday. He inherited the “cherry cake gene” from me. And thankfully Nana aka my mother in law Carol can make a cherry cake from scratch for us.

There you have it. Blogging guilt is gone. I am truly thankful this week, for our small rural school, for healthy kids, growing and changing, even if they make me shed a few tears.

Have you had any firsts this week?

    *hugs* ♥

I understand how you feel. Poor internet connections and no time mean a lot of things we are doing don’t get blogged about, too.

One day hopefully, but not today.

Hope you all have a blessed weekend!

Yes, I understand blogging guilt. Yes, sometimes I blog anyway so my mother gets the updates. 🙂 And yes, a few firsts. Oldest daughter now in high school. Oldest son switched to public school from private. Since I’d gone through the high school thing once before, my eyes were dry, but I felt like I was missing something as we drove off without big brother. It was quieter in the car, less stressful, but nevertheless, a void. They all matter. Even the ones that give us trouble. 🙂

Oh great firsts! Happy birthday Hunter!

I don’t feel that guilty but my family lays on the guilt if I don’t post – they even call me up to see if I’m okay, LOL, and then they complain. So now I have to warn them if I’m taking a day off – how ridiculous is that?!?

As for your question – my husband slaughters the chickens. I cook them. That’s our deal 😉

You have a young family and they need you more than we do, Katie. You are getting it right — I’m happy you were able to share with us at RT this week. xo

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
