Easter renewal

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: Easter, faith, family, family fun, family traditions, holidays 5 Comments

Today in Easter church the pre-school kids were sleeping flowers until they were “awakened” to say their lines. We had a lily and a “wose” (Miss A’s pronunciation of rose).

It was not Miss A’s best day in church and everyone in attendance heard that, especially during communion. She shouted “give me some”, several times, loudly and “I don’t want water! I want that juice!” It was an Easter Sunday to remember.

Hunter and I attended the local sunrise service where youth from several churches lead it. Hunter led a prayer. Then at our church service where our whole family plus Nana, Grandpa Eldon and Auntie Lori attended Hunter did the same prayer and also played the trumpet with his buddy, Tyler alongside the church choir.
The girls had dresses handmade by my mom this Easter. They were fabulous and even though the weather was cooler than somedays we’ve had already this Spring, it was a beautiful Easter.

The Easter bunny came to Nana and Grandpa’s house. Auntie Lori and Miss E found he was quite sneaky, leaving the girls a few outfits hanging outside. There was an Easter basket for Daddy in the washing machine, a hidden basket in the coffee table for Hunter and more goodies stashed throughout the house and yard.

Grandpa Eldon helped Miss E and Miss A hunt for eggs and claimed he saw the Easter Bunny hopping down the alley behind their house. The girls scurried around the corner only to find…

new bicycles! As soon as we were complete with Nana’s homemade Easter dinner with all the fixings, the girls had to get outside on their new bikes. Daddy and Hunter had them put together in no time.

Miss A moved up from her tricycle to her own two wheeler. She pedaled away and will be putting on the miles this year.

Our tall girl Miss E needed to move up to the next size of bike and she is loud and proud of her new “big bike”. Yes she has a helmet to wear also but didn’t have it on when Auntie Lori was snapping these photos.
It was an Easter to remember. The most important thing about this weekend is both Nathan and I had an incredible sense of peace. Life has been hectic lately, taxing at times but we were able to have immense fun with our family this weekend.
Earlier in March, I purchased an Easter plate from Ann of Butterflies and Gourds. She is an artist and fellow blogger friend of The Real Farmwives of America. I love her hand painting she does and will be getting a few of her painted gourds later this year.  But today I looked at the Easter plate and decided to keep it up for a few more weeks. It’s full of Spring to me. Easter is a sign of Spring to me, a time of renewal, a reminder of our Redeemer.
I am so grateful for this weekend, to be renewed, to be given new hope and to know my Redeemer lives. I’ve been singing and humming a Nicole C. Mullens “Redeemer” song all weekend. I have listened to it on Hunter’s iPod, somewhere have an old CD of it and now found it on YouTube. She speaks at first, then sings it in Spanish and if you want to skip ahead just go to minute 3:30 and listen for even 30 seconds. I hope you feel the same joy I have found in listening to “Redeemer” this weekend.
Happy Easter!

Oh such cute pictures! I confess that after the little children’s sermon, I sent the twins to the nursery because I’m sure they would’ve been up to similar antics 😉

That whole post is exactly what Easter is about. It made me smile and brought sunshine to my face. So glad you are willing to share your family and your faith with us all.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
