Splendid snow day

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: family fun, North Dakota, North Dakota weather, prairie, prairie life, rural life 8 Comments

The snow arrived on the prairie. It missed other parts of North Dakota but found us. So much snow (and wind earlier this morning) arrived that our rural school was called off, a very rare occurrence.

For this fine Leap Day, the girls took a leap into the freshly found snow drifts.
Fresh snow tastes great…

 so do mittens.
Sledding is splendid on snow days.
 Snow angels are sensational.
Indoor biking is necessary for a fingers and toes to warm.

But when Daddy came home tonight he found the biggest snow of all for sledding.

A striking snow day was good for the soul today.
What’s your favorite thing about fresh fallen snow?

What a beautiful day! Crazy, but here we hit 72 with 46 mph winds. Not sure where our winter went?

Looks like you and the girls had a great snow day at home! Your pictures are always so fun and cute!

It’s hard to say how much snow we got. We are thinking 5-6 inches. It drifted pretty good. Today was actually beautiful, no wind, sun and low 20’s.

10 am start at the school and I stayed home from work. Still fighting my head cold. I felt pretty good after a 2 hour and 15 minute nap! I like a nap, but WOW!

This looks like So much fun!! I love the taste of fresh snow, too… but I love the sight even more from the window, under a fleece blanket with a hot coffee in my hand! We’re hoping enough fell in the Sierras this week to take the boys up for the day this weekend.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
