WW w/ linky: Gourmet Dessert Bar Planning

Have you ever hosted a party and had a dessert bar? I was inspired this past weekend by the gourmet dessert bar at the party I attended in Kingsburg, California following the California Women for Ag event I spoke at and joined friends there. This is definitely an idea I’ll be copying for an upcoming 2012 birthday party or BBQ with friends.

Brownie cake pops dipped in chocolate. Yes please.

 A full spread. Absolutely.

Wife of a Dairyman was photographing away while I was eating.

The citrus and orange theme was also a great party planning touch. Plus we had a fantastic band! Motel Drive was a rockabilly band that reminded of a cross of country rock and old school Johnny Cash.

Thankfully the band’s music helped me burn off some of the indulgence I enjoyed at the gourmet dessert bar! Reality is now…it’s a very late after Hunter’s basketball game. We lost…big and my alarm goes off in 6 hours. Blogging takes a back seat sometimes. But I’ll be back tomorrow because we have too much to share not to be…such as Miss E starting Tae Kwan Do and…an animal rights activist sitting next to me on the plane. There is never a dull moment around here. I also am one day delayed at announcing last week’s linky winner which I’ll draw tomorrow and announce. Right now, I’m just wishing I had a few delectable lemon tarts with meringue to enjoy for a midnight snack or maybe for breakfast tomorrow!
What would be your “must haves” on a dessert bar?
You can link up your Wordy or Wordless Wednesday post below and be sure to visit a few others that are sharing here this week. Look forward to seeing what you share and there will be a weekly winner each this month and I’m sending you two of my favorite books in the mail from a collection I keep on hand new to give to friends.

How fun, a dessert bar. Desserts are my favorite to make, so I would be inclined to do a dessert party!

I also love citrus! I found a citrus zester at the second hand store while visiting Sister in Iowa. The best .25 I have spent in a long time!

A few years ago we attended a wedding with lemon, lime and oranges as the decor, beautiful.

I “heard” via the blog grapevine that this is citrus season, is that true?

You know, when it comes down to it, it’s all about the food. Beautiful photos of a scrumptious dessert bar.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
