Baby holding, Birthday Cake & Dress Up Day

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: birthdays, family, milestones 3 Comments

Miss E had her “low key” birthday celebration tonight. I had told her we weren’t having a big birthday bash since we just returned from a week at Disney World. She reminded me Anika got fireworks and a party at her birthday…which is slightly unfair since Miss A’s birthday is just days before our big July 4th celebration. However, I agreed with Miss E that we’d have some friends over for pizza for a birthday supper with no gifts. A few friends brought small gifts though which she appreciated. I bought a cake when I was in Fargo on Friday morning, served leftover appetizers from our family business’s Friday night open house and called a few friends. Nathan picked up pizzas. We might live 100 miles from McDonald’s but we have take out pizza on the prairie. The kids chased around the house. It was controlled chaos, a state of mind we are used to.

Miss E blew out four candles in three breaths. It’s a lot of work being 4 years old!
She was delighted her newest friend Baby O came to visit. Baby O will join the girls at daycare after the New Year.

Miss E is a baby loving girl and took great pride in holding Baby O tonight. The highlight of the night for me came though when the girls found the dress up clothes…

They were dressed up from head to toe, parading around the house. Note that one of the three boys at the  party is checking them out but not participating in dress up time.
A baby holding, dress up day complete with pizza and birthday cake wrapped up a beautifully warm Sunday on the prairie. Now it’s off to take on a busy work week that has the winds of changes blowing through while enjoying a couple of our son’s basketball games.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
