Carhartt in my working mom wardrobe

Fall has set in and it’s jacket time on the prairie. I wait as long as possible to actually pull out winter coats. Once we are winter coats in North Dakota, we seem to wear them for five months…or longer. For a new fall jacket, I ordered Carhartt’s Women’s Sherpa Sweat Jacket when Carhartt offered to give each one of my friends of Real Farmwives and me a new jacket. It seemed like a perfect fall jacket and more stylish than just a sweat shirt to add a layer. I haven’t just worn this new versatile Carhartt jacket in North Dakota like I planned.

I have worn it on a client farm tour in California as I stood Tanimura & Antle’s lettuce fields.  It’s cool in Salinas with ocean breezes and I was so thankful I had the Carhartt sherpa sweat jacket. Just the collar is sherpa lined and otherwise it’s a heavy duty sweatshirt with an inside draw string if you’d like to use it.

One of the bloggers on the client farm tour I was on had her sweet Baby C with her. I volunteered to hold the baby in a celery field.
Baby C and I watched Tanimura & Antle lettuce harvest while I wore my Carhartt too. Tanimura & Antle supply the nation with 20% of our lettuce and are still owned and operated by 13 family members along with a host of employees that are well paid with health, dental, vision benefits and even a daycare on site.
Having a farm friendly jacket that actually fits me with style is such an improvement over typical larger sized men’s cut Carhartt jacket that I usually wear.

My husband changed careers and went from wearing Boss business suits to wearing Carhartt shirts, pants and jackets every day in his lumberyard and general contracting business. Both Miss E and I have borrowed Nathan’s Carhartt’s in the past.

But now I don’t have to borrow a Carhartt jacket from my husband anymore. I have my own women’s style Carhartt jacket. I have worn it playing outside with kids, to our son’s football games, to go to the gym, on walks with friends, fall gardening, in farm fields and even to dinner in Carmel, California with my friend, Nancy aka The Wife of A Dairyman.

To win a Carhartt Roll up Sleeve Plaid Popplin Shirt of your own please visit www.realfarmwivesofamerica.com  to sign up for their giveaway today.

Carhartt did provide me with this product to review but the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own. Thanks Carhartt!

I live in Cahartt all year long. I love that they are now making a women’s line. Last winter I was one of the first to try out their women’s jeans and t-shirts. I love the fit of the jeans. Even before I got my free promo items I wrote an Ode to Cahartt one bitter cold winter day.

I love my husband’s Carhartts but have never seen any women’s pieces. Looks like I need to keep looking! Thanks, Carrie.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
