Miss A jumped out of her crib this week. She catapulted actually and upon that decided she would never stay in the crib again with her new found freedom. Daddy moved in the toddler bed to her room. For three nights, she stayed in her bed, sleeping sweetly for twelve hours at a time which she has done each night practically since birth. Her older sister, Miss E, age 3 1/2, is a problem sleeper. Last night when her older sister had gotten of the bed for the second time of the evening and was doing everything she could think of to prolong falling asleep, I walked by Miss A’s room and thought I saw some movement in there. Upon looking closer through the doorway, I saw Miss A sitting on the floor. I flipped on the light. I had our son quickly run to grab my camera. And the pictures tell the story…
I didn’t put the Desitin back on a top shelf after using it on her while we put on her bedtime diaper and pajamas.
Miss A paid me back for that mommy mistake and covered herself as well as the Pinkalicious doll in what she called “yotion” (lotion).
But lotion absorbs and Desitin just sits on your skin, creating a strong protective layer to prevent…diaper rash. It does NOT come off the Pinkalicious doll but she will never have diaper rash. It does come off the clothes and floor she rubbed the Desitin onto as well the full covering of her own arms, hands and face.
A 9PM bath and solid scrubbing was in order for Miss A.
This is only the beginning of the adventures of Miss A…I can’t imagine what’s next.
The joys of motherhood. The joys of a two year old.
What’s a favorite joy of motherhood (or non-motherhood with any kids) experience have you had?
I blog to document our kids and this “favorite” experience would probably never make their baby books (which are empty) but at least it makes the blog.

This story hit a little too close to home for me as when I was about 3 I thought I would wipe vasoline all over the bathroom floor. apparently, I wanted to pretend like I was ice skating and vasoline gave the floor an “icy” look. I’m pretty sure my mom had a hard time getting it all off the floor, so I think you will have your hands full with this one.

Rubber cement! My oldest ate it while glueing stuff to the living room carpet! That was my first official call to Poison Control! She was my only Poison Control child but she made me call 4 times in 3 states!
Oh and Amy, vaseline takes weeks to come out of hair also – been there done that one with my oldest as well!

Oh my…my son did the same thing at about age 2. Somehow he reached the tube from his crib and spent about an hour or so plastering his entire face with the stuff. He looked like an authentic French mime when I discovered him. His big blue eyes were the only parts of his face not covered with white….NOT easy stuff to wash off a tender little face!

I love it! I needed that laugh. My two year old hasn’t started that yet, but when my oldest (now 6) was about that age, he used lotion as ‘poo’ meaning shampoo. His hair stood on end. It was hilarious.
On the “ice” rink comment, I never thought of vaseline, but this weekend, my son discovered that furniture polish does “wonderful” thinks to the vinyl floors in our bathroom.

this is great! trooper says “yotion” too!
last year in georgia his sisters ratted him out. after investigation, i found him face down on their bedroom floor wearing his wranglers, boo’s pink cowgirl boots and a pink tu-tu. i started to giggle and when he looked up he had colored {war paint} all over his face and arms.
quite a sight to see! 🙂

My oldest daughter did the same thing as a two year old–just minutes before she was supposed to go and get her haircut…Needless to say, she was late for the haircut appointment! Parenthood is a journey, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This same daughter started middle school this week–I don’t know where the time goes. I swear it was only weeks ago that she was a little monkey clinging to my arms when I took her to preschool… Now, she goes to school at 8, and it is 5:30 before she gets home from Cross Country practice. Enjoy the time when they are little!

That is some serious scrubbing to get that stuff off!

Love! This is classic! What a doll you have there. Pinkalicious and Miss A!
No guilt about the empty baby books. I don’t do scrapbooking (gasp!), so memories of my son’s childhood are captured in thousands of electronic pictures (unprinted) and now the blog. I figure at least with the blog others get to enjoy them as much as I do.
Thanks for sharing your photos which prove a picture truly is worth a thousand words…
