He made me a mom

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: birthdays, family, milestones 12 Comments

It’s quite a special day we are celebrating while camping today as a family.
Me, Hunter and Dana Elizabeth (our friend often referred to as a sister) on Hunter’s 2nd birthday
12 years ago this how we celebrated our son turning 2, a donut with two candles. Today he’ll need a full meal and has requested for me to make A LOT of food.

He’s a hungry boy as our teenager turns 14 years old.

He doesn’t know that I’ll cook for him every day to make him happy. After all, he changed my life forever. His perfect arrival (after an emergency c-section) into this world was pivotal moment in a treacherous time in my life. His perfectness was burned into my mind and changed my entire outlook on life. It impacted me greater than any other single life event to date and made me stronger than I knew I could be. Today, he’s loyal. He’s hilariously witty. He’s a sports data nerd. He forgets shoes. He strongly dislikes making his bed. He loves his family and has a strong faith. He is passionate and energetic on all topics and hobbies he loves which doesn’t include mowing the lawn or emptying the dishwasher. He’ll shoot baskets in the barn all hours of the day.
Today all I can think is thank you for making me a mom, Hunter.
We love you. Happy Birthday.

Mama Jane, Grandma and I were thinking about you, Hunter, all weekend. I’m so proud of you. Happy Happy Birthday! It feels like it was only yesterday we celebrated your one week birthday with a photo of you laying on Grandma’s table next to a cake from Gunther’s. Time flies!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
