Wordless Wednesday: Summer freeze frame

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, prairie life, rural life 15 Comments

It’s Wordless or Wednesday and below is a link up to share your post. It’s a bit of a few hurried weeks of juggling in our family right now. Between schedules, we are running hard and fast, but it is summer. Despite rain and clouds (my husband mentioned building an ark tonight), there has been sunshine.  Here are a few freeze frame moments of the last few days I want to remember of our summer so far.
Miss A as a farm girl princess

(My mom’s Rhubarb Creme Meringue Pies and a Blueberry Pie)
Farm cat chased by Butler the farm dog up the tree
I must freeze moments to cherish a little girl who helps me in the garden, mostly by playing alongside of it. That little girl is my baby…and she is turning two years old in less than ten days. Sigh.
A freeze frame is permanently embedded into my memory of this little girl who made “Dad I’m Nuts About You” gift for her daddy. (Yes we have the greatest daycare provider and I take no credit. It was all Lori’s doing and work.)
Then there is our teenage son who works alongside my husband in the morning, plays baseball daily in the afternoons or evenings (when it isn’t raining) and took it upon himself after intense grumbling to attack weeds with me in the garden in between it all. Freeze frame: he enjoyed weeding and has a sense of pride now with the garden. These summer freeze frame moments don’t last forever and I’m relishing in them today.
Despite the busyness of schedules and hectic life moments, what are your summer moments so far you want to freeze frame to remember?

Link up and share your Wordless or Wordy Wednesday. It is a blog hop and you can add the below code to your blog. Please link back to Pinke Post somewhere on your blog. There are those pies again! Your Mom looks like she’s the best baker! I’ve yet to bake a blueberry pie myself, if I ever do, I’m sure it’ll be added to my top 10 ways to eat blueberries:)

I think for now, I’d like to ‘freeze frame’ our picking blackberries and the dogs next to me eating them…

    Enjoy your Wednesday!!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
