Homemade Pie Excitement On The Farm

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family fun 10 Comments

On a Friday night at the farm, there is nowhere I would rather be than right here, with four generations of my family from my 86 year old grandfather to our youngest less than 2 year old daughter enjoying my mom’s legendary homemade pie.
Whether it was the fresh blueberry, cherry or blackberry apple we ate tonight, everybody enjoyed the…
joys of pie, conversation and a family Friday night on the (indoor, heated) porch.
Pie has a way of gathering and connecting people. My mom makes it because she knows we love it but also because it’s a reason to gather together. There’s no television, movie, computer or mobile phone needed. Just a slice a pie (or two) and our family carries on in conversation together for hours. It’s a cherished and treasured time.
What connects you with your friends and family?

Isn’t it great that even though our lives are saturated with social media and technology that makes it easier to connect with others, the best way to enjoy others are through simple ways like pie and storytelling!

    Looks yummy!

Hi Katie, Nothing warms the heart and soul better than Grandmothers homemade pie. We always thought my Mom made the best pies ever too. Happy memories for me 🙂

    hugs,

oh that sounds great! We have a meal and get together. Sad thing is there is only five of us, the rest of the family is in the Netherlands…. Luckely we are blessed with great friends and they might come over every now and then…

    thanks

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
