Cold Weather Kids Indoor Adventure

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: cold weather kid activities, kids, North Dakota, winter 11 Comments

What to do when your kids need outside activities and yet it is too snowy and cold to go outside?
I am not a very creative or crafty mom but we managed to find some activity and adventure last night in our garage.
Miss E discovered bike rides are quite fun.
(No, I didn’t get a new vehicle. That is my rental replacement while my vehicle gets deer damage fixed.)
Miss E last night maneuvered her way around winter essentials we keep on hand in the garage like the snowblower and was enjoying her cruise.
But someone was feeling left out of the excitement.
Miss E got out her map and decided to take her little sister on an adventure of her own around the garage.
Miss E was wearing her coat and hat in case she got outside for her adventure. Anika never wants a coat on or shoes. That is a problem for a girl being raised on the frozen prairie. Thankfully our garage is heated. It feels like a North Dakota fall day in there. She went coatless and hatless.
Miss A wasn’t so sure about her crazy sister’s ideas. The above photo is a favorite. She might be trying to slow down Miss E through many of life’s adventures. Last night’s Jeep ride was just the beginning.
What are your indoor activities to keep you (and your kids) entertained during the cold winter weather?

The picture where Anika’s sign language is “SLOW DOWN!” made me laugh!!! They are both such adorable girls with their own personalities!

They will balance each other out over the years!! ha! Indoor activities…making a maze with tents and tubes and making rody run through about 500 times is a favorite for us!

We have to pull our vehicles out of the garage for bike races at least once a week in the winter. Sadly we have to bundle up just to be in the HEATED GARAGE!!
Cute girls, hope to see them (and the rest of the fam) soon!! It’s been too long.

    Miss ya –

    Your girls are adorable!

I try to keep the kids busy with art projects or games but with my twin 6 yr. old boys I’ve learned I’ll just have to sacrifice my couch! After so many cold days stuck inside they can’t hold back for too long and at least once a week we have wrestlmania in the living room. My couch is a hand me down anyway so I won’t complain. 🙂

    I wish I had a garage. I live in a town home so I don’t! Bummer!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
