Little Sisters As Big Brother’s Basketball Fans

Filed Under: Family Values, Small Town Sports Tagged With: athletics, family fun, sports 7 Comments

A few nights a week…as in tonight…our young girls, ages 18 months and 3 years attend their big brother’s basketball games.
They would rather be at home pretend painting their nails.

Even painting their daddy’s fingernails is more exciting than sitting still in the stands at a basketball game.
They could stay home as their mama’s hair needs quite a bit of fixing. And the house also needs a little picking up because yes we still have a lot of Christmas decor around the house. There is plenty to organize as you can see in the background. But instead of putting away, organizing or cleaning, we venture across the snowy prairie to cheer…
 on Big Brother.
Miss E laughs at how many free throws Big Brother has to shoot.
He usually makes the ones that matter most.
Miss A is best entertained at games with a variety of cookies, crackers, books, babies and climbing the bleachers.
But she shouts “Hata!” from the crowd to cheer on Big Brother.
On most game nights you can find Miss E playing with her babies and her loyal friend Miss Emerson whose brother is also playing.
And then every once in awhile Miss E lets out a big yell of…
“Hunter, follow your shot!” or “Rebound!”
And Big Brother listens.

What are your activities that keep you busy this winter?

Love the button of Big Brother on his cheerleader sis. 🙂

I’m happy not to have to venture out at night – across the prairie or across town – and just hunker down with 5 dogs and a good fire in the stove…

Such sweet pictures of your girls. We have been to a few ball games ourselves. Mostly hanging out at home after the craziness of the holidays.

How sweet is your husband to have his nails painted! Oh, I am not sure how you get it all done. I really don’t. We can’t keep up and we just have gymnastics one night a week.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
