The Same Santa Visits 30 Years Later

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, family fun, holidays 5 Comments

Thirty plus years ago, this Santa Claus visited my husband, his sister and his cousins on Christmas Eve.
Cousin Travis and Santa Claus circa 1977

Santa Claus 2010
Santa Claus has survived through the decades. His beard has grown a bit but he still brings happiness and joy to children.
Instead of coming down the chimney this year, Santa walked right in the porch door at the farm.
It was joyously exciting for most.
Anika wasn’t enthused.
After Santa left, Anika had great stories to tell about Santa and certainly the memories will last until next year when Santa returns.
Upon Santa’s departure from the farm, we played music together. Miss E got a bit of stage fright and we didn’t get her performance on video.
But there was plenty of beautiful music to enjoy.
Then, we handed out gifts to all of family that gathered with us to celebrate.
 And Anika got to work.

After gifts and before bed, we hoped for a return visit from Santa while we all slept. We left Santa a few cookies, a glass of milk, a candy cane and carrots for the reindeer.
Santa and the reindeer ate the snacks.
 And Santa once again delivered.
Those are size 14 snow boots for our teenager that Santa delivered along with plenty of other new clothes and outdoor snowmobiling and skiing attire.
Miss E was driving her ride and in charge…
until her little sister wanted a turn.
The girls will be learning to take turns and share for years to come.
There was a much anticipated arrival of Auntie K on Christmas Day morning. When she walked in the living room, Miss Anika was happy to run to her auntie and bypass her turn to drive the Jeep.
It was a very merry Christmas. Take One.
Take Two.
This week we are enjoying plenty of family time while Nathan is hurriedly wrapping up year end business duties. The girls have little to no schedule and heavy play time on the prairie. I am thoroughly loving the down time. The teenager has daily basketball practice but we have an uncle and a cousin visiting to hang out with Hunter between practices. Plus the guys are being great playmates to the girls.
There will be more pictures to share of our Christmas outings and adventures soon.
But right now, I have a naked 3 year old running around who needs some clothes and breakfast.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
