The Energy Of A "63" Year Old Beloved (Dog) Child

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: Charlie, dog child, family pets 2 Comments

He is not often blogged about but he is a cornerstone of our family.
He was here long before I was in the picture and was even mentioned by our pastor in our wedding as being my husband’s best friend. We established a joint custody sort of agreement for him. He routinely lives with Nana and Gpa Eldon but comes over to visit us regularly for day visits and sometimes has sleep overs.
He’s the beloved dog child, Charlie.
Charlie is 63 years old in people years or so.
Has his age slowed him down in this frigid snowy winter?

Nope.
He is a jumping, snow catching dog as lively as ever.
Maybe when I’m 63 I’ll be bounding with energy through the snow like our beloved dog child?
I can only hope.

What’s not to love about Charlie the aging dog child?
Whether he is jumping, bounding, snow catching or snuggling on his pillow, he brings endless entertainment to all of us.
My husband can hardly believe that my gruff farm dog mentality has changed to be indeed that of a…dog loving enthusiast, all thanks to Charlie.

Hey, Charlie! Nice moves! I hope I’m as nimble as you are when I’m 9!

Things are busy around here…I’m sure you’ll sympathize with my current job: guarding a baby! It’s tough work, but really, who could do it better than us?? Guarding is my favorite. Catching snow is my favorite too!

    Cheers,
    Your Southern Buddy,

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
