Nana Made A Birthday Cake

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: birthdays, family, family fun, milestones 2 Comments

I am not much of a baker. But thankfully we have Nana down the road and around the corner.
She made a fabulous Pinkalicious Cinderella birthday cake and brought it over last night.
Grandpa Eldon was the scribe.
My parents also made the road trip for a family birthday party for Miss E.
 Nana and the birthday girl
One of Miss E’s favorite activities is playing “hair cut”. She is 110% girl. She paints finger nails, curls hair, flat irons, combs, brushes and pretend cuts hair too. Auntie K gave her some pretend hair cut toys for her birthday that Miss E had given her friend a month ago for a birthday gift. Miss E was mourning that it wasn’t hers ever since and last night she got MORE hair cut toys for her birthday.
E has even trained her sister to sit while she does her hair.
Anika is the most patient little sister!
E was also very excited that she got the same pillow pet as her sister. Equal playing field is good in E’s mind plus she has a frog one so having one up on Anika is also a plus in E’s mind. Her logic is quite amusing.
Anika was content to just sit in the birthday boxes and play with the cake topper toys.
What a difference a couple years & absolutely different personalities make!
Today it’s cold, foggy and we are nestled at home. I have a load of work to do but the girls are still in their jammies as my parents are here just to hang out and have a leisurely day playing with them. I am going to hide away to get my work done on my computer while the girls are off to have a long bath using the many different bath bombs my mom has made the girls. If you haven’t been following GriggsDakota this week, hop on over and you can learn how to make fizzy bath balls.
Now that the birthday celebrating is done at our house, we need to reload and get ready for Christmas festivities. I have somewhere between 50-75 people coming to our house next weekend for a Christmas party with the contractors and employees Nathan works with daily. Add our teenager’s basketball tournaments which thankfully my parents are transporting him to this weekend and my last of the year (yahoo!) business trip between now and then and I need to get organized.
Simple and short-cut Christmas party menu suggestions? Please share.

I’m back on Pinke Post! I had a couple weeks of catch-up reading to do. I finally have a permanent work computer. Glad to know what’s going on in Pinke land. We have to catch up on the phone soon!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
