Pheasant Season Kick Off

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: hunting, North Dakota, pheasant hunting, prairie life 3 Comments

All photo credits go to Ben Cooley, our friend and passionate pheasant hunter, who captured these shots during the past two weekends. First Hunter was able to participate in the youth pheasant hunting season and then go out this past Saturday morning with Nathan and Ben for the official opening pheasant season.
Hunter wanted to make sure he could live up to his name and be a true hunter himself.
He has done just that and is loving walking through endless prairie fields in search of the prized birds.
The weather has been stunningly warm in October. Lows in the 50’s and high temperatures in the upper 70’s and low 80’s. It feels like summer only the days are much shorter.
These photos are original and I think they are amazing. We might need to be doing some enlarging and framing of them.
Smiles all around for these hunters, especially our Hunting Hunter.

What wonderful pictures. My boys hunt pheasants too. Ry went last weekend, but Isaac was sick with pneumonia, so he couldn’t go along. How fun for them. . .I would prefer to just shop!!

Great pictures Katie! Iver and Nels are on there way home from their annual fall bird hunting/4 wheeling trip up in Littlefork, MN. We’re looking foward to some “family” hunting around Pierre in the next few weeks.

Outstanding pictures! I’m sure that you are wondering – so, no I don’t have any pictures of me hunting pheasant, because I have not been out hunting pheasant. I am going bald, my dog is going gray, and the birds are cackling at us(as roosters often do). So I guess that you guys will have to go out twice as often! As for Sauerkraut day – enjoy!

Say hello to all. I will be praying for you daily!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
