This week I headed to Fargo for a farm show. My mom has a great recap on our visit complete with the combine I would have loved…if I had a few hundred thousand dollars laying around to buy for my dad.
There already was a SOLD sign in the window. Farm equipment is so expensive and my dad always has had a the philosophy to keep overhead down we most often drive (very) used farm equipment. Good economic common sense but I really wanted the new combine this week. It is always fun to dream. Read more and see the photos of my mom and I touring the Big Iron farm show on GriggsDakota.
With the busy week we have had Miss E decided she would stay home with Nana and Gpa Eldon one evening and have a sleep over with them. This was her idea and she really wanted Anika to join her but Anika likes her bed each night so it was just Miss E’s sleepover.
It was a grand success and Elissa has plans now of weekly sleepovers. Where does her strong willed independence come from?
We watched Hunter’s football team pick up their second straight win in his weekly football game, winning 22-6 against the mighty Strasburg-Zeeland boys.
The weather was gorgeous for a fall football evening road trip. The next few weeks we are traveling far and wide to games.
Yesterday I briefly left my work at the farm show and in our Fargo office to stop for a quick lunch to see two favorite girlfriends, Jennie and Crystal.
We once talked every day, drank a lot of coffee together and miss our old routines in former working lives together.
However we remain amazing friends and yesterday was a wonderful visit.
We reminisced over our Spicy Shrimp wraps and Asian wrap at Applebee’s.
Over four years ago, Jennie and I visited our friend Crystal the night before she went into labor at 28 weeks with her twin boys, Nolan and Gavin. We visited her the day they were born and for months beyond it as they remained hospitalized. It was a grueling time for Crystal and her husband as they had one baby in a hospital in Fargo and another in Minneapolis. Many of you prayed for Nolan and Gavin for months and probably years.
They are miracle boys.
Yesterday Nolan joined us for lunch.
He was done with pre-school for the day and was a great boy to visit with over lunch. He downed his corn dog in a few minutes.
His brother Gavin was still at pre-school and we missed seeing him. But we were overjoyed to see Crystal who is expecting her third baby, glowing, and FOUR weeks further along in her pregnancy than she ever made it with the boys. YAY! In just a couple months Nolan and Gavin and their parents will have a baby at their house and we are so excited to celebrate with them.
Every mama needs some girlfriend time and I was so grateful for my short but fun chat with two favorite girls yesterday.
I will soon have more girlfriend time. Later this weekend, another favorite and forever girlfriend is coming to visit, Miss Sara.
The above picture is from a girls weekend Sara, Karla and I had a couple months ago in Minneapolis. It was two night husbandless, kidless, shopping, black dress wearing, sushi eating, laughing and much needed girlfriend weekend. Don’t you think more crazed mamas should have weekends like that?
Sara’s brother Brad, a cancer survivor is getting married this weekend in North Dakota. Following the wedding…Sara and her boys are trekking deep into the prairie to see us.
We’ll have more football to watch, our kids to play together and plenty of girlfriend time but skip the sushi eating and black dresses.
Whether it be heading out to a football game (or maybe even a farm show), taking in lunch with some girlfriends, watching a movie with your husband, having a sleepover with your grandkids…take time enjoy your weekend!

I’m trying to figure out why Crystal looks familiar……….did she play softball at NDSU, maybe?

Fun to see you and Sara together! Hope you have a great time together after the wedding, too! I’m jealous of the Minneapolis weekend. That sounded like a lot of fun.
