Traveling Down The Yellow Brick Road

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: family, family fun, travel, working mom 2 Comments

We took a family road trip this weekend to travel down the yellow brick road on the prairie.
It led us to the Land of Oz.
Thankfully, the wicked witch was not home.
Beyond the yellow brick road, we came to visit one of Miss E’s favorite princesses,
Snow White.
We continued along the path.
Was there an old woman living the shoe?
We didn’t find her but we did find Miss E sliding from the shoe.
Humpty Dumpty was sitting on the wall. He had not taken a great fall so Anika joined him with the help of her big brother.
Captain Hook’s ship was great fun.
We visited each of the three little pigs and their houses. Elizabeth said “I hope the big, bad wolf doesn’t come and blow out our camper!”
Hickory Dickory Dock along with Hunter, Elizabeth and Anika climbed the clock.
It was a weekend full of smiles, laughs and family fun and our last weekend before school starts this week for our soon-to-be seventh grader!
If you are within driving distance of Aberdeen, South Dakota, we highly recommend camping at Wylie Park and visiting Storybook Land. It is extremely affordable family fun. There is no admission fee to Storybook Land and it is only $1.50 to ride the carousel and $2.50 for the train. There is a bench and picnic table around every corner and a fabulously fun family get away. Plus Aberdeen has a tremendous water park that is $6.50 per person but due to rain and much to the deep disappointment of our son, we didn’t get to visit but we will make this an annual family road trip and be back next summer.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
