Spirited Two Year Old

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: kids, motherhood, raising a family Leave a Comment

Our spirited two year old, Miss Elizabeth Carolyn Jane, dresses herself. Her preferred shoe is a pink cowgirl boot with no socks. She also combs her own hair which avoids me having to wrestle her down most mornings to do it. She hasn’t slept through the night in…weeks and yet she is still always up in the 6 o’clock hour. She is spirited and two years old.

Yesterday while cleaning out closets with me she learned that clothes that once were hers a couple years ago now are Anika’s. The thought of sharing with her younger sister was too much for her to handle. She decided to dig in her heels and protest. She proceeded to take one of Anika’s outfits (size 18 months) right off a hanger from Anika’s closet and put it on for herself to wear. Then as I continued to clean out closets she found her winter coat (size 24 months) from two years ago and decided it would be most appropriate in August to wear it around the house. She wore the outfit the entire day and only took off the winter coat for her nap.

Thankfully her big brother can strong arm Miss E enough for me to document her August winter coat wearing day but as you can see, she protested.
We love our spirited Miss E.

As for that big brother Hunter James, do you notice how big he has grown this summer?
Earlier this week he had his sports physical as football practice begins next week.
6’0″ in height and 167 lbs. were his statistics. He was healthy all around and cleared to be a year-round athlete (who will still be taking piano lessons and playing trumpet in the band.) In just two short weeks, he begins 7th grade and will turn thirteen years old all within 24 hours.

A spirited two year old and a teenager in our house will be all consuming. Thank goodness for our 13 month old who quietly goes about her day, sleeps for 12-14 hours each night and loves being entertained by her brother and sister.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
