Tonight Hunter played in his first ever junior high football game.
Between my picture taking and my sister also taking pictures while I chased down the girls, I downloaded 85 pictures tonight from the game. We have seven weeks to go of this season and then onto basketball, track and baseball. Picture taking and documenting our daily life is a hobby and maybe a bit of a healthy addiction. Because of it, this blog doesn’t miss out on our prairie life. But maybe we can scale back from 85 pictures a game? Here are a few highlights.
The girls had their new adorably cute game day outfits on and were ready to cheer on their big brother.

Thank you to Ashley and Sheila at SheSheMade for getting these outfits to me by last Friday just in time for the football season.
Our plan for the football season is to have the girls at home games. With parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends to help us watch them we actually got to see parts of the game tonight.
For away games, the girls are staying home with Gma Carol aka Nana.
Tonight Anika was entertained by running around, playing with friends and Uncle Mike’s hair cut was also fine entertainment.
With canola harvest complete and a pause until pinto beans are ready to combine, my parents and Grandpa Sonny were able to come to the game. They picked up Auntie Kirsti and Uncle Mike along the way. Plus Nathan, Gpa Eldon and Gma Carol were there. Hunter had quite a football fan club.
Down by two with less than 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter, one of our guys caught a pass, broke loose and started running down the field. Whooping, hollering and cheering filled the heavy, humid air.
As fast as the hollering started, it stopped. The wind was taken out of our sails. There was a fumble around the 15 yard line and the game was over, we lost 14-16. The team was devastated with the season opener loss but Miss E was still yelling “Go Mustangs!”
Even with the disappointing loss, it was a fun evening with four generation of our family seeing Hunter’s first ever junior high football game. I couldn’t get over just how BIG he looked and how quickly time flies to now be a football mom cheering on that huge #55 that is our son.
Together we enjoyed a family supper at our one and only community restaurant, named appropriately, The Prairie Winds. One local restaurant is why I have learned to be a much improved cook since moving to the prairie but I am thankful on a night like tonight to have The Prairie Winds. It is for sale so if you want to move here to own a restaurant, please do. We need you. I need you. Please consider.
As usual, I am behind the camera on this picture. Although a few of my friends mistakenly thought my sister was me tonight. Oh how I wished I looked her age of 23! Nathan’s parents are also not pictured as they were already home. But I laughed at the above shot. You need to understand how tall our family is.
Grandpa Sonny is 5’10” and so is my mom. Brother in law Mike on the far right is 6’7″. My dad, in the back, is 6’8″ plus he is always wearing cowboy boots. My sister is taller than my 6’3″ husband. I love our tall genes!
And oh how we love our football playing boy!

Fun! Very cute outfits for your girls too! I saw them on Ash’s site but had no clue you guys were the Mustangs….I thought Badgers…oops. Is it really long sleeves and pants weather there?? Seems impossible…summer’s over 🙁
Thanks for the comments ladies. It has been very warm actually with no rain. So the girls were HOT in long sleeves. Dorine, my friend’s brother, the Marine, is back on US soil. He is home & recovering. He will not have his full eyesight restored but he is happy to be alive. Thank you for your prayers for him and his family.
