Look who survived a full dishwashing cycle…

Last night Hunter (after recovering from very nasty stomach flu so he has not been photographed for a few days) went to a local basketball practice with Nathan in a nearby town. The girls and I were at home for supper together. As I talked to my sister in law, Lori, on the phone, Elizabeth was “helping” me with the dishes…and pouring water on the counter. That was “coffee” she said.

She even put the soap in the dishwasher and wanted to “push the buttons” to start it. I was her assistant. She was quite insistent on being in charge of the dishwasher and I was doing my best to supervise.
Today when I opened the dishwasher to empty it, I found the reason for her insistence.

Elmo survived. Thankfully he was so soaked that he didn’t start on fire under that heating element. He is just drying now and very clean.
This is the Elmo dishwasher culprit, playing in a laundry hamper with her new horse “Sheyenne” (named after Boppa Fred’s horse of course). Sheyenne was a recent gift from Nana and Gpa Eldon. She is perfect for Miss E because she is PINK. And according to Elizabeth, the whole world should be pink. She tells Hunter every morning he should get a pink bus to ride on for school. And she is going to get a pink bus…when she is five or so she says.
Anika gets her turn to play with E’s toys…when E is out of sight or preoccupied with another toy.
I love Anika’s sweatshirt she is wearing. Our daycare provider (also named Lori) gave it to her for Christmas. It says “I make God smile by just being me Anika”
She makes us smile every day.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
