When it is ugly outside like it has been for the past few days, we need even more fun activities inside which is a challenge at times with a very busy Busy Bits. This weekend she loved watching me gather snow from the deck by the bucket load and filling the kitchen sink for her to play in it. My mom used to do this for us as kids. And Hunter played like this many times as a little boy.
He showed E this weekend how much snow in the sink could be.
Coloring together…or as Busy Bits says “doing my homework”
Sledding during the only “nice” part of the weekend
The wind is howling outside of my window right now. First we had freezing rain, then snow and now wind. The kids are still sleeping…only because E was already up in the night, Hunter’s school is two hours late now cancelled and Anika loves to sleep in every day if she can. We have power but most of the area around us has been out of electricity since Friday. Our neighbors are out but thankfully they have a generator as do many rural folks. The generator is a lifeline during freezing temperatures both for keeping homes going and to keep water going for livestock.
We drank plenty of cocoa to warm up this weekend and will drink plenty more today. A cozy weekend at home was appreciated and welcomed. Ahh, simple joys. Snow in the sink, coloring “homework”, snowmobiling, sledding, bringing Frosty the Snowman (see below) to the prairie and sipping hot cocoa.
The only non-joyous part of the weekend was…the Vikings.
