I picked up these sweet faces at Lori’s daycare over the noon hour so Nathan could see them quick while he was home for lunch and I could have some play time before naps. The plan was they would nap while I caught up on more office and computer work this afternoon along with a few loads of laundry. (Yesterday was a big day in our household as BOTH girls now get to go to the same daycare together three days a week.)
First we played and E had a few jellybeans for going potty in the toliet. She really wanted to share with Anika.
Anika didn’t mind chewing on her fist instead of jelly beans. She is a big girl now sitting in her Bumbo chair.
E started to fade and that signaled nap time.
But not everyone was ready for a nap…
Anika smiled her way out of her crib. And she still hasn’t napped and is hanging out in my office with me while her sister naps. I have a feeling as soon as Elissa wakes up, Anika will be ready for her nap. And Hunter will be home from school now any minute.
So my quiet afternoon in my office did not exactly work out as perfectly planned but I love Fridays. I love working from home. I love being home. My friend Katie L shared an article on working moms today. Click here to read it. The article arrived in my email inbox this morning as I was feeling guilty about my frequent business travel and time away from my family, unmade beds, dirty clothes in hampers, non-vacuumed floors, stacks of mail and magazines on the kitchen counter plus my work sitting on my desk. The article was refreshing. I am a mother. Not a “working mom” or a “stay at home mom”. Just a mom. And I am a wife. A great reminder for me today. My friend Roxy also wrote a great blog post this week about being a “Mary” or a “Martha”. You can read it here. I am definitely busy being a “Martha” and sometimes just need to stop and listen and more of a “Mary”.
Reading both the article Katie L sent me along with Roxy’s blog post made me grateful to have tremendous friends on the prairie that inspire me to continually improve and grow myself in a balanced yet focused way.
Now that I am done typing…Anika is sleeping! And Hunter is walking up the driveway, ready to tell me about his science test.
A prayer request for you this weekend–a friend from UND and former teammate, Becky gave birth last weekend at 25 weeks along in her pregnancy. Baby Emily Grace is fighting for her life. Becky lost a lot of blood and is recovering. Please pray. You can follow their family blog here.
