Blue eyes waiting

It is a chilly early morning on the prairie and I am already trekking down the two lane highway on my 90 mile commute to the airport. The alarm came early at 4AM. Actually Anika is my alarm and needs to nurse at that time most days anyway. Today, I have a one night quick business trip to make. Thankfully Mama Jane arrived yesterday afternoon. She is like Mary Poppins and arrives with the wind. Leaving my blue eyed kids, all three of them is never easy. Between Nathan filling up the Odyssey with gas, making sure the coffee maker is all set for a fresh ground pot of coffee for me at 5AM and giving the girls baths along with my mom doing dishes, washing Hunter’s uniform and then helping Hunter study for his test, my evening was simplified last night, my nerves put at ease. Even though I left last week this is not routine and even though it is a quick trip, it is not easy. But those big blue eyes will be waiting for me when I get home. 39 hours and counting.

They are too precious. I hope you had a good trip and I bet you are glad to get home.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
