Zoo visit

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Auntie Lori road tripped over 500 miles this weekend to come visit us and meet her newest niece Miss Anika Iris. This morning we loaded up the Odyssey (yes I admit…a great people mover), drove to Bismarck with Auntie Lori, Gpa Eldon and Gma Carol. We enjoyed brunch together and then took the girls to their first zoo visit. Feeding the goats was a highlight at the beginning and end of the zoo visit for Elizabeth. And of course Anika snoozed.

Elizabeth was on a mission to see the tigers. They have quite a tiger display and a tunnel to walk through to see them.

She found the tigers!

Even Anika thought the tigers were worth waking up to see.

The bears, otters, spider monkeys, wolves, llamas and lemurs were also highlights for Elissa.

You can see where Anika gets her dark hair from…the Pinke family. Elissa and Anika had matching dresses (and head bands which E quickly would not wear…Anika was more cooperative until her head band fell over her eyes!) from the Bitz family to wear today. Thanks Wade, Holly and Emma! Their first matching out fits!

End of the afternoon at the zoo…we missed Hunter but Miss E had a grand time and of course Anika was the perfect baby. Having Auntie Lori visit is fun and Elizabeth is having a blast playing with her. The zoo visit was especially entertaining.
(And now for those of you who know my hair color dilemma can see the latest attempt…striped hair! It’s low lights. Hormones, babies and age do crazy things to my hair I am learning and I am trying out a new look! Shorter hair and low lights. This is a longer story for another time. I miss long hair and platinum blonde)

Auntie Lori meeting Anika for the first time! Don’t they look alike?

An Friday night evening walk…you can see our house in the background. We were almost home and had Elizabeth get out of the stroller to run off some energy. She thought running through the hay field instead of on the road was a better idea so Daddy wrangled her up onto his shoulders for a ride instead…and that was fun for Miss E!

Elizabeth has been talking about “Hunter back” for many days. She started wearing Hunter’s hat saying “Hi Hunter!”
We are VERY excited to have Hunter home with us soon!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
