Hunter celebrated his 12th birthday today! It was by far the coldest and rainiest birthday of Hunter’s lifetime. But fun was had by all. We had a couple families over to our house tonight for burgers on the grill. Hamburger from our family farm and homemade buns from my mom combined with Nathan at the grill made for great burgers! Plus we had homemade potato salad (made by Gma Carol), green beans (that I prepared but were hand picked for me by my Gma Nola from her garden), a spinach salad from our friend Anna and many other yummy foods. And of course there was a homemade, tasty cake from Gma Carol’s kitchen for dessert! Hunter was a very happy birthday boy. The kids got caught in a rain shower outside and came inside for cake. Everyone was laughing at Emerson’s (far left…her brother Noah is holding her) attempt at smiling for the camera. The boys spent a majority of their time playing Hunter’s newly created game “Slam ball” on his little sister’s basketball hoop. Boys will be boys.

Elizabeth wanted no part of a family picture. Instead she was more focused at getting to the raspberry lemonade. Anika is intently looking at her daddy. But look at those guys! What smiles.
Hunter’s football birthday cake from Gma Carol. Gpa Eldon contributed the yard lines! It was a chocolate cake with mouth watering frosting. There was one little piece left on the board when we were done.
This is our boy at 12 years old and now a sixth grader! He wears his age in his shoe size and is stretching taller and taller. He is a wonderful big brother, loyal son and fun loving kid.
Yesterday it rained at my parent’s farm. Gpa Fred and Mama Jane decided going on a road trip to Dairy Queen and delivering an ice cream cake to their grand son was a great idea for a rainy day. A 180 mile road trip it was. My mom had just returned from seeing us the day before but she said she is so used to the drive now it does not bother her and plus she gets to see her grand kids. So we began our birthday celebrating last night. Today Hunter celebrated in school with his class by bringing ice cream bars and orange pop for a treat (his choice by the way…orange pop has always been his favorite special treat!). Then tonight we had his birthday dinner and cake with friends. And on Saturday we will be in Fargo for a wedding and he will get to swim at our hotel with a few friends from there for a little birthday celebrating too. It’s a fun week of birthday celebrating!
This lil‘ sis has shared attention quite well in the past 24 hours. She only shouted “No! Mine!” at the birthday cake a few times. You can see her patient eyes in the above picture. E has repeated “Hunter! Happy!” all day long though and even tonight before going to bed was still giving him birthday greetings and parading his gifts around to show them off.
