Love

Okay this post was GOING to be about family love but all Minnesota Vikings fan have had a love hate relationship with Brett Favre for many, many years and we have LOVE today for Brett the QB. A couple weeks ago we STRONGLY DISLIKED (words I tell Hunter to use instead of the dreaded “hate” word) him for not coming out of retirement to become a Viking. But with breaking news today, we LOVE Brett Favre for signing with the Vikings and flying to Minneapolis to join training camp. When Hunter came upstairs with his ESPN Sports Center update of Favre news, we screamed and jumped up and down together. Seriously I jumped for joy. Hunter in his excitement said to Anika, “Aren’t you excited to be a part history and see the Vikings win their first Superbowl?” Nothing like the power of positive thinking. Okay back to family love…

Elizabeth has not experienced any problems adjusting to being a big sister. She is always loving on Anika. We stress “gentle” with Miss E and she does her best. There is no doubt Anika will be getting orders from her sister throughout her life. Whether Anika listens or not to Elizabeth is yet to be determined.

Although she looks like she is going to take a bite of her sister, Miss E was actually kissing and talking at the same time to Anika.

My sister and I are eight years a part in age but I remember loving my sister as much as Elizabeth loves Anika.

Hunter is out mowing the lawn and then will be off to the pool, the last day of summer as school begins tomorrow. His backpack is packed with new school supplies. We have weeded out his clothes that are too small and have new clothes hanging up in the closet. He checked in at his sports physical yesterday at 5’8 1/2″ in height. Our big boy begins sixth grade tomorrow!
As soon as I get caught up on laundry, I will blog more but until then it’s off to wash, dry and fold clothes. That is another love hate relationship I have. LOVE having the laundry done, STRONGLY DISLIKE doing it.

Very cute pictures of the girls. They look so different right now (blonde/blue-eyed Elizabeth, dark hair/eyes on Anika); I will be anxious to see how Anika changes as she grows!

Happy 1st day of school to Hunter tomorrow! I go back to work on Monday and the students’ 1st day is Wednesday.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
