Our baby girl has a pink cast

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: family, working mom 7 Comments

Our baby girl has a broken leg. Nathan was with Elizabeth this morning at the doctor’s office in our hometown seeing the orthopedic specialist. We have been dealing with this for over a week since a mishap at the park last Tuesday night. The original diagnose was a hyper extension or maybe knee sprain. Then we were worried about a torn ligaments or tendons in the knee. Thankfully the orthopedic doctor comes the first Wednesday of each month to our little town. He caught an irregularity on the x-rays and then did new films on a different portion of her leg. Indeed she has a broken tibia = broken leg. She just was casted. A pink cast. Nathan is a wonderful daddy and he has called me three times keeping me updated. Elizabeth is happy and she is already crawling around with her cast. But…I am REALLY sad to not be there. Instead I am sitting in the Fargo office…listening in (again) on a conference call strategizing on a presentation for next week. My co-workers who follow this blog I am sure are smiling while they read this post. I am flustered to not be the mommy there with Elizabeth and Nathan right now. But Nathan had me to talk to our baby girl on the phone she was happy to tell me her cast is “hot” and “preey” (pretty). And her babysitter Ora yesterday painted her toenails so the toenails and cast all coordinate.
I need to end my ramble now…and will post pink cast pictures when possible.

Poor little E– but mostly stressful for mommy! It’ll be ok.

Oh goodness! I can completely relate and know that it’s probably harder on you than on her. 🙁 On the upside, how blessed are you (and she) to have Nathan for her dad. I’ll keep you all in my prayers.

Oh my goodness. How long does she have to have the cast on? Sounds like she has been adapting well so far. Good luck to all of you.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
