Completed 5th grade

Today Hunter wrapped up 5th grade. This morning, as Hunter and I were both eating our oatmeal together, he recapped the year by saying “it went faster than ever before…”. Indeed it was not long ago that this post was about Hunter’s first day school on his 11th birthday, holding his new basketball. I took a similar picture today. Hunter is taller, leaner and has lost his “little” boy look all together. And of course, he is smarter and more educated…that is the goal. The basketball has been well used since the first day of school. And you will notice that there are some house improvements since the first day of school just in the background of the picture. Dining room table set, rug, glass doors on the hutch.
Hunter was been practicing baseball for the past week or so with the older boys team. He will spend the long weekend farming with Gpa Fred and crew and then start Bible school and his official baseball season next week. Summer will be officially kicked off when the local swimming pool opens. We saw the life guards cleaning the pool late this afternoon and soon it will be full of water. School is out and indeed summer is finally on its way.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
