New Year’s in the woods

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Nathan and his baby girl

Late last summer we booked reservations for our New Years weekend. It is about the halfway point for us to drive and meet Nathan’s sister aka Auntie Lori. We are nestled in lake country, in woods of Minnesota. It’s cold outside, cozy inside by the fire and relaxing. There is plenty of snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and Hunter is trying out his new snowshoes. And this morning and tomorrow the ladies are taking in some time at the spa.

Hunter is looking rather “robberish” we told him in his facemask. Elizabeth is fully protected from the elements and loved her sled ride.

Auntie Lori handmade a beautiful sweater with a matching “Lil’ Lamb” hat which took some work to get on Elissa’s head but she did wear it for about five minutes and then proclaimed “All Done!” and promptly took it off. Regardless, it is a treasure.

It was our Christmas with Nathan’s parents and sister which of course has led to more gifts, food, games and laughter. Elissa took a liking to one partcular gift of Gpa Eldon’s. She

paraded around and even danced on it.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
