Hair ties

With winter comes a busy time for me with work…travel, meetings, travel, meetings for a majority of the upcoming couple months. And no matter how beautiful the weather may be somewhere else, I miss my family at home. So the above pic is more for me to look at for a few minutes before going to bed tonight in my quiet and empty hotel room.
Elizabeth’s hair is long enough where is hangs down in her eyes and she needs a Cindy Lou Whoo (from the Grinch if you cannot remember) style pony. Miss E is used to our morning routine and sits fairly still for me while I quickly twist in a hair tie. She pulls any form of a clip out immediately. A single pony tail at the top of her head require more work to get out and most of the day she ignores it anyway.
On Monday night, Nathan asked for a hair tie lesson so while I am away on business for a couple days, our dear daughter’s hair still gets at least out of her eyes. The update I got on the phone tonight from Nathan was…”I can build stuff and put things together no problem but I cannot tie those rubber bands into her hair.” Daddy will keep practicing.

I was laughing out loud when I read this. Lauren and I were just having a discussion this morning about Daddy’s and hair. I was braiding her hair and she said, “Daddy’s fingers are too big for braids.” I told her that was probably true but he does a really good job of getting her hair in ponytails. She agreed but then leaned in and whispered, “But Mommy’s are better at it.” I think it’s awesome that he’s willing to try. 😉

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
