Baby shower

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Yesterday I hosted a brunch baby shower for my friend, Katie LaBree. She and her husband are expecting their first child in a month. Katie was my first friend when we moved here. The story goes she was getting her hair cut and her stylist said “there is a new Katie in town, you should call her”. You gotta love small towns. Katie LaBree did call me. After we played phone tag for weeks we finally got together for coffee and have been doing so ever since…

Funny thing is that Katie is the wife of our local Baptist church pastor. I guess I had in my head what a Baptist pastor’s wife would or should be. Well, Katie broke and exceeded any expectation I had. She is the most outgoing, witty, genuine and FUN pastor’s wife and truly a woman with a strong sense of who she is. For the past months, she has driven long hours each week to commute to a seminary where she is getting a graduate degree in Christian counseling. She is driven and dedicated. And she will and would be my true friend no matter where I lived. I am so excited for her to become a mommy! Elissa’s onesie is showing out the bottom of her dress…it was at TJ Maxx bargain I picked up that says “All my mommy wants for Christmas is a Silent Night”. Could not be more true.

Katie L and Stacy…both expecting soon. Stacy’s due date was two days ago. Elissa entertaining, playing peek-a-boo with Brenda

Katie’s mom had a seven hour drive and came for the shower.

The whole group playing a Christmas song lyrics game that my friend Sonia led.
Fun time had by all. Despite the high winds, sub zero temperatures, it was sunny outside. It was warm inside with the fireplace roaring, plenty of conversation and of course food.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
