Low cost toy budget

I have been reminded this weekend of what items truly entertain a baby soon-to-be toddler. The blow up alien Hunter won at a restaurant is a favorite of Elizabeth’s. Hunter reminded me it is not a free toy though. It took him a lot of tickets to win this toy. Speaking of Hunter…it is quiet around the house tonight with out him. He left early this morning for an adventure with his grandparents Mama Jane and Grandpa Fred. They have just landed in Orlando and are on the Disney Magical Express to their resort. We will meet up with them later this week. I first have to make a quick business trip jaunt and then meet Nathan and Baby E en route to Orlando. On time flights are necessary for our logistics to work!
The all time favorite low cost toy is…a cardboard box. It is a fort, a hiding spot, a play house and hopefully it is just a childhood toy for our children. I do not want them living in a cardboard box under a bridge someday. Although no one in North Dakota does that November through March anyway!

Who needs toys when you can have a cardboard box! Another fun thing for a toddler are those little toys that come in happy meals. My sister was entertained for HOURS when she was little!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
