Happy Cobbers

This past weekend both Nathan and his sister Lori had class reunions at their alma mater, Concordia College. Home of the Cobbers. (Yes a corn cob is their mascot. Elissa even has new socks from Auntie Lori that say “Fear the ear” on them.) Hunter stayed home with Gpa Eldon and Gma Carol to attend a basketball tournament. Elizabeth, Nathan and I made a quick trip to Fargo to meet up with Lori and attend a couple of the festivities. Plus a fun sidetrip to Toys R Us. Three adults and a baby that needs…plenty in a toy store with…plenty to sell. We also had our long time favorite babysitter Sarah and her husband Buddy babysit sleeping Elissa and had a night out for a few hours.

Nathan and I razz each other about our respective higher education choices. The small, private college versus the large, state university. A fun debate and not soon to end. BUT I must admit…seeing Nathan so much enjoy going back to campus, seeing the relationships he still has with his former professors, getting chills from the tremendous band and choir performances at church broke my hard armor and I did agree that someday our children can at least make a college visit to Concordia and they can attend it IF they have scholarship $$$$ and it is their choice. Then they will be happy cobbers with their daddy and auntie. However…just to be perfectly clear, we are balancing this all out by attending the University of North Dakota’s homecoming events this weekend. We still are diehard UND Fighting Sioux and UGA Bulldog fans…but we love our Happy Cobbers too.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
