Abe’s cabin

For the past month, Hunter has been working each week on different aspects of a social studies project. Each student in his class had to pick a state. He chose Illinois. This week he had the “shoe box” portion due. He needed to create a landmark in Illinois in a shoebox. We found Hunter’s snowboot box and along with insight and expertise from his favorite Mama Jane they spent last Saturday creating his masterpiece. Rolling paper bags for logs

Hunter did his research and found the below picture of Lincoln’s log cabin. He then drew a picture of what he wanted his scence to look like and created his model of “Abe’s cabin” as he calls it. That is the best art project that I have EVER seen an 11 year old boy turn in! It reminds me of the projects I used to do with Mom for school. Good Job Hunter!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
