Cabinet delivery a few weeks ago.
For all your cabinet needs contact Pinke Lumber Co.
They deliver!

Siding, patiently awaiting to be put on the house. Read the fine print my Canadian friends…it is made in Canada.

We couldn’t have a new house with out a pink room–and not pastel pink. It is “Pink Starburst”. And Elissa will someday have this pink room. Hopefully pink will be her favorite color just like her mommy! For now it is where Auntie Kirsti aka the summer nanny will make her home.

Go Dawgs! Hunter (on his own!) asked to have a Georgia Bulldogs room. I of course was thrilled at this idea. The first step was to find “Georgia red” for one wall. We agreed upon this rather than Hunter’s first idea of red and black stripes all over the entire room.

Our only bit of disappointment in paint color…this turned VERY purple on us and was suppose to be “Cinnamon Slate”–ahh not so much but with the cabinets now in the room the color is growing on us and with tile and bathroom fixtures we think it will be fine. No repaint.
Master bedroom

As promised…here are some pictures of painted walls in the house, some cabinetry and the siding (on a pallet). The lighting isn’t great on the pics. Elissa and I were doing this solo after work last night and didn’t know how to turn on the lights! It is a good thing I was on mat leave during the paint choosing stage of house building because other wise I would have gone with my mom’s classic style of one cream color. Her direct quote when I had to pick out paint for her was “Katie, I want one cream or white color and nothing else and you can pick it out.” So that is white, decorator’s white, cameo white, etc. Needless to say, Nathan would have preferred I pick only “cameo white” probably for ease of painting but color is definitely our style and we are very happy with how things are turned out with painting. (All the credit and kudos go to Nathan and his dad!) And I love my parent’s cream walls and wood floors. However they also have maple cabinetry. So we needed to differentiate and we have color on our walls, wood floors and maple cabinets! And we don’t just have one finish on maple. You will see frost, sundance, chocolate glaze and natural finishes on maple in the house. Hopefully Nathan can bring over some customers through the years and show them the different finishes as examples. It’s the Pinke Lumber spec house for those purposes and more so it our new home for our family! We are excited.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
