Two sisters with two very different personalities from our house went to our local church’s Bible school this week. On Thursday night we attended the Bible school program where we saw Miss E, age 4, attentively stand at the front of the church, obey her leader’s instructions and sing boldly. I had taught the Bible story earlier in the week to the five different age groups. When the pre-school group came in for story, Miss E sat and listened, asked questions and answered questions I asked.
Then there is Miss A, age 2 nearing age 3. She is very…busy. She wanted to attend Bible school, walking in each evening without hesitation. But sitting still? No way. Standing in front of an audience to sing? Not a chance.
I snapped these pictures just on the kids’ first song because by the second song, Miss A was running down the aisle to sit with Nathan, Hunter and me.
We tried again. She went back to the front of the church. This time with me accompanying her and I sitting in the front pew.
Attentively listening? Singing? Never for Miss A. She leaves the listening and singing to her older sister. Instead she was the always moving, creating a little chaos girl at that Bible school program and also maybe the most tired. She’s an early to bed girl and it was past her bedtime. That added a few tears during her movement back and forth from the front of the church back to me.
But in the end, we had a happy family who loved seeing our two very different girls perform, in their very different ways. Nana and Grandpa were there to watch with us. It was a kick off to summer. I have memories of attending Bible school in the beginning of summer. And now with our school out and Bible school complete what is next to kick off summer?
First, camping in our new spot to camp…just 10 minutes from our house on a prairie lake.
Then, baseball season which started last week with practices and kicks off next week with a game for our baseball playing boy, Hunter.
What does your kick off to summer include?
